JAPANESE SALES CHARTS SPELL GOOD NEWS FOR SWITCH OWNERS

The weekly sales for software in japan(see below) came out today and it tells us that the switch is posed for success in japan. Despite the fact that there are not a lot of games for the japanese market to be excited about, as zelda has not historically sold well there, the switch is selling a lot of units(currently over half a million). Of course this might have a lot to do with the splatoon testfire that happened over the weekend as the first game was a enormous hit in japan. That tells me that when the games that are popular with Japanese players start coming out(splatoon 2, rumored pokemon and monster hunter games) Thats when we will see the REAL switch frenzy, in other words, sales are fantastic in japan, and we still haven’t seen anything yet.

Why does this matter to american switch owners? If the system is wildly successful as Nintendo is planning it to be,even if its only successful in japan, it could mean more games and more attention from third parties wanting to bring their games to the switch. Thats not to say that the US wont see the switch also being successful, but Japan has recently valued handheld gaming more than the US, the ps vita and the 3ds both sold more more in japan then in the us.  We will know for sure at this years E3 if this has had an impact on publishers, but i have a good feeling it has.
